Methanol, also known as methyl alcohol amongst other names, is a chemical with the formula CH3OH. Methanol is the simplest alcohol, consisting of a methyl group linked to a hydroxyl group. With more than 20 million tons produced annually, it is used as a precursor to other commodity chemicals, including formaldehyde, acetic acid, methyl tert-butyl ether, as well as a host of more specialized chemicals. Methanol synthesis is the formation of methanol from carbon oxides and hydrogen. It is catalysed by copper-zinc catalysts.
Chempack offers the SRK-series methanol synthesis catalysts which can be applied most of the low-pressure methanol synthesis unit like Lurgi reactors. Over the years, the industrial performance proved this series of Cu/Zn catalyst, and has been developed for increasing activity, selectivity and stability.
