Sulfur Recovery Process

Sulfur recovery units, also known as Claus units, utilize sulfur recovery catalysts as part of the process to form elemental sulfur called the Claus reaction. While it is the most common process, it only regains 98% of the sulfur and could require a tail gas treatment to increase a recovery to 99.5% or higher.

Chempack manufactures products that assist in both the Claus unit and the tail gas treatment to maximize sulfur recovery. Claus catalysts have high COS/CO2 hydrolysis rate, while Tail Gas treatment catalysts generate higher sulfur conversion rates.
